English Proficiency Exam (EPE)

                                            ENGLISH PROFICIENCY EXAM

The English Proficiency Exam (EPE) is an examination designed to assess whether students possess the English language skills required to pursue academic studies in their undergraduate or graduate programs.

Students who wish to take the EPE, which is administered during the first or second week of September, must first sit the English Placement Test (EPL). Students who are placed at the Upper-Intermediate level are eligible to take the EPE.

Students who do not place at the upper-intermediate level are placed in the English Language School at the level determined by their placement test results.

Students who are eligible to take the EPE but do not sit the exam, or who do not achieve the required score, are required to study in the English Language School for a minimum of one semester and a maximum of four semesters (two academic years), depending on their level.

Eligibility Requirements for the English Proficiency Exam (EPE)

Students at the upper-intermediate level become eligible to take the EPE once they accumulate a total of 60 points during the module.

Requirements for Progression to Faculty Programs

Students whose combined score—calculated as 40% of their upper-intermediate module score and 60% of their EPE score—is 65 or higher may begin their departmental studies in the following semester.

For students enrolled in the English Language Teaching and English Language and Literature programs, the minimum required score is 75.
