Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to take EPL in order to take the EPE?

  • Yes, it is mandatory for newly-enrolled students to take the EPL. If you achieve a sufficient score on the EPL , you can take the EPE.

Can I complete the preparatory education in a single semester?

  • In this case, it is necessary to obtain a score on the EPL high enough to be placed in the Upper-intermediate level. If you achieve this, you can complete the preparatory program in a single semester and proceed to your department.

I am in my second year. I received a low score on the EPL conducted at the beginning of the new academic year. Will I be placed in a lower level than the one I studied in the previous year?

  • No, you will start from the level above the last successfully completed. .

Case 1: You, as a Pre-intermediate student, have completed the level successfully. Therefore,  you are entitled to study at  the Intermediate level. Next year, you have taken the EPL. As a result of the exam, even if you have failed to get the score for the Intermediate level, you still have the right to start from the Intermediate level (This means that you start from one level above the one you have completed successfully).

Case 2: You, as a Pre-intermediate student, have failed to complete the level successfully so you need to study at the same level. You have taken the EPL exam at the beginning of the next academic year. Your score is successful enough to be an Intermediate level student. In this case, you study the Intermediate level (based on your exam result).

Case 3: You, as a Pre-intermediate student, have failed to complete the level successfully, so you need to study at the same level. You have taken the EPL at the beginning of the next academic year. As a result of the exam, you are qualified to be a Pre-intermediate student. In this case, you start from the Pre- intermediate level (based on both the exam result and level you have been at).

Case 4: You, as a Upper student, have failed to complete the level successfully. You may not choose to take EPL at the beginning of the next academic year. In this case, you start from the Upper level (based on the level you have been at).

I am in my second year. I failed at the level I have been studying. Do I have to take the EPL at the beginning of the new academic year?

  • According to the English Language School Education and Exam Regulation, students who have completed their education at the Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, or Intermediate levels in the previous academic year, as well as students who have failed at the Upper-Intermediate level and have not qualified for the EPE, are required to take the EPL at the beginning of the next academic year. If they do not take the exam, they will be placed in the level above the one they last successfully completed in the new academic year.
