About 13.01.2022 English Placement Exam

Dear Students,

English Placement Exam (EPL) for newly registered international students will be conducted on 13.01.2022 at 10:30 in A229. Based on their performance in EPL, students will either be eligible to take the EPE on 17-18.01.2022 or placed into D,C or B levels in the 2021-2022 Academic Year Spring Term. It is not possible to take the EPE without taking EPL first. Students who are on the EPL lists but does not take the EPL will be placed in D Level in the 2021-2022 Academic Year Spring Term.

  • Students need to strictly follow COVID-19 rules announced by the university.
  • Students will be allowed to take the exam only in the exam room at the specified time on the exam list.
  • For international students, one ID with a photograph is enough. Otherwise, studens who fail to provide an accepted document will not be admitted to the exam.
  • Latecomers will not be admitted to the exam.
  • Students cannot leave the exam room during the first 30 minutes.
  • There is no break after the exam starts. Those who finish their exam and leave the exam room cannot return and continue their exam.
  • Students are not allowed to use dictionaries.
  • Students are not allowed to take any type of food to the exam room.
  • Students are allowed to take water bottles with them to the exam room after its label is removed.
  • No material with writings on them is allowed in the exam rooms.
  • There are 100 multiple choice questions in the exam.
  • EPL consists of grammar, vocabulary and reading comprehension questions.
  • Students are expected to have a pencil, a pen, a rubber and a pencil sharpener. Students are recommended to have a spare pen, pencil and a spare rubber as well. Students will not be able to borrow any of these materials from each other.
  • Students are allowed to take a spare mask and cologne/disinfectant with them to the exam room.
  • All types of watches and electronic devices will be collected after they are turned off and stored in disposable plastic bags. Students who are found not to have submitted an electronic device will be subject to disciplinary investigation.
  • If the devices in the disposable bag are found not to be turned off, their owners will be subject to disciplinary investigation.
  • Proctors can write an incident report in case of a suspicious act of a student. Following this, a disciplinary investigation will begin.
  • If a student fails to code his exam booklet type or class code correctly on the optical forms, his/her exam result may be invalid.
  • Exam booklets and optical forms cannot be taken out of the exam rooms.
  • Students are not allowed to ask any question about the exam content to the proctor.
